Impactful Vessels (Honoring the College Park Food Bank Board Members and Volunteers)

Blessings to all. I pray all is well and peaceful. I would like to Honor these Impacful Vessels for Humanity that relentlessly serve our community. No storm can deter their service to our community whether it be internal or environmental. Their Passion is exalted as they prosper in providing the community with the food during these turbulent times. The College Park Food Bank works to reduce hunger in College Park Maryland and neighboring communities by regularly offering food to families. Since the pandemic started, they have served more than three times the families than the normal served per month pre-pandemic. The CPFB served 9,433 families—40,588 individuals in 2019 and now the records have gone through the roof. They have made a phenomenal Impact in service and collaboration as well. They have been supported by Blessful donors, volunteers, partners, and board members who display elite commitment to serving our community. The collaborative support is growing as the CPFB nourishes their fruitful resources for greater fruits of collaborative labor. They have an amazing distribution system that effectively serves both pedestrians and drivers. Stations are set up with a specific number of distributors per station including bilingual and sign language speakers. Drivers simply pull up, state the number of families, zip codes, and food is placed in the trunk or backseat by the distributor. The pedestrians pick up their Blessings in the same way at a location near the entrance of the distribution site. All volunteers are signed up days prior. All volunteers receive a detailed brief, nourishments, and warmers to keep hands and feet warm during service in the cold weather. Sometimes it gets icy. The last distribution was successful at serving fresh produce and nonperishable food to 299 families containing 1,214 people in the freezing rain! The College Park Food Bank does an astounding job at making sure their Vessels (volunteers) are well and safe.
